My lamp is based on the look and shape of a flower. It uses colour well as it demonstrated the stem, which is green, and the flower, which has two shades of pink. From the side view, the petals are layered and from the top view, the petals are at slightly different angles, creating volume and dimension. The centre of the flower doubles as a candle holder and it holds a tea light candle. This is meant to be on some sort of table, most likely a bed side table as it is designed for relaxation, hence the candle.
When you first set about sketching ideas for your lamp, what was it you were hoping to achieve from the lamp when it was lit?
When I was in the designing process, I was aiming for the light to look nearly the exact way it looks now, except I was not planning on making a base.
Do you feel you achieved this? Explain?
I think I achieved the look I want for my candle light.
What objective evidence do you have that you achieved this?
I have the photos of the sketches and then the photos of the finished product uploaded on the weebly.
Comment on the apprpriateness of the level of light for different settings and rooms.
The light is aimed mainly at relaxation and when it gets dark, to supply a suttle amount of light in the room it is placed in.
How easy is it to light the candle or to acually get the light functioning? Are ther any steps or safety precautions that need to be taken
It is easy if you have matches and a match box and you are cautious with how you
Write an honest paragraph on how well your lamp has been made. Consider elements such as cutting, joining, bending, deign etc
I think I could have done better on the stem of the flower, the green acrylic twister. It looks quite uneven from the front view. I think I also think I should have used time more wisely, in some lessons I did not do that much, or maybe even nothing at all due to having to wait to use the acrylic laser cutter, which put stress on me towards the end of the rotation. Other than that, I think I did a good job on making the lamp that I had planned to make.
Write about twenty five to fifty words descibing exactly what it is that makes your lamp original and creative.
My lamp is individual as it is a thin, twisting, unusual shape that becomes a flower that is made of colourful acrylic. It uses a stacking technique in the flower section of it, with forex circles and polypropylene flower shapes. This creates dimension and volume as it is more 3D, like a flower in real life.
